Setting up your one's own domain name is very bad experience for many bloggers. Most of the bloggers hesitate to register new custom domain because they don't know how can we set this to blogger. A Records ,CNAME and NameServers are rocket science for them. But if you have registered your domain with Godaddy there is no need to worry. Goddady has created a handy tool especially for blogger through which we can easily transfer blogspot.com domain to cutom .com like domain.
Setting Up Godaddy Domain Ready for Blogger/Blogspot
(I supposed you have already purchased a Domain from Godaddy)
There are two steps to transfer a domain to Blogger:
1. DNS Records Update
2. Add Domain to Blogger Blog
Step 1: DNS Records Update
- Signin to Godaddy
- Goto Godaddy Blogger Tool
- Enter your domain name (eHowBlogger.com)
(you can also use setup sub-domain (go.ehowblogger.com)
- Click the Confirm button
You DNS setting has been updated. It may take 1 or more hours to update on Godaddy servers.
Step 2: Add Domain to Blogger Blog
- Signin to Blogger
- Goto Dashboard > Settings > Basic
- Under the Publishing Click on +Add a custom domain > Swith to Advance Settings
- Add your domain in the field and Click Save
- Now, Blogger provide you two CNAME entries to be added to Domain Registrar (Godaddy)
- Go back to Godaddy and Add CNAME entries
- Signin to Godaddy
- Goto Domain (Launch) > Click on Domain Name > Scroll Down Page and Find DNS Manager > Click Launch Button > Find CNAME > Quick Add
- Now Copy and paste the Entries here provided by Blogger and Click Save Settings
- Now Back to Blogger and add domain again
